WHAT'S HAPPENING AT KEYSTONE

MD Anderson; The Woodlands, TX

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center’s newest clinic in The Woodlands will soon be ready to accept patients. This 208,000 sq ft facility will include the services from the former 45,000 sq ft facility 3 miles down the road and add numerous services for patients. Focusing on their one goal to end cancer, this clinic will bring “hope and healing” to Montgomery County and surrounding communities

The $65 million building includes radiation oncology, medical oncology, surgical oncology and infusion therapy services in addition to pain management, nutrition counseling, social work and genetic counseling. M.D. Anderson will add new diagnostic and screening services to the facility, which will also have a post-anesthesia care unit with up to 17 beds. Plus, there will be a women’s imaging center, laboratory and pharmacy.

The new center will take advantage of The Woodlands’ natural settings with plenty of windows and light. Patients who receive chemotherapy will have private bays with windows that look out to the plush environment.

We were pleased to work on this project with EYP Architecture and Engineering as well as Vaughn Construction. Our work included:

  • 14,800 SF of clear finished, Quartered European Chestnut veneers on ¾” MDF panels
  • 14,000 SF of Color Core plastic laminate on ¾” MDF panels
  • Over 50 slabs of Quartz countertops
  •  A large 3form plastic resin panel package
  • Plastic laminate cabinets
  • Upholstered Benches
  • 17 plastic laminate headwalls.  We were happy MD Anderson decided to use our Keystone Millwork headwall system to streamline the coordination and installation of the headwall systems.
  • B&N Industries Shelving
  • Sliding glass displays

The highlights of the interior finishes include the Grab N Go, Appearance Center and LINAC Room millwork, including:

  • The 3form bar back at the Grab N Go was completed with a wooded film and integral menu board, and a metal laminated panel cooler shroud.
  • The Appearance Center has over 2,800SF of European Chestnut veneers and in-wall European Chestnut cabinets.  The outside and inside corners were built on a radius from finished floor to 11’ tall ceilings which came out stunningly beautiful.  And the B&N Industries shelving with sliding glass doors adds to the ambiance.
  • The LINAC rooms cabinets with integral 3form doors and lightweight shelving provides both functionality and aesthetics to the space.

This project took a large scale, full team effort.  The building is a mixture of both practical and ornamental which hopefully provides a warm space for employees and patients.
